Study Abroad

Students studying abroad in a Muhlenberg College approved program will be considered enrolled at Muhlenberg College while they are studying abroad.  Therefore, Muhlenberg College will be considered the “home school” for Federal Aid purposes (Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Federal Perkins Loan, Federal Student Loans and Federal PLUS loan).  In addition, students will be able to use their MuhlenbergCollege need-based grants and merit based grants towards the invoice for the program.  For details on the fees see the Global Education Department’s statement on fees.

If a student receives any grants or scholarships from some place other than Muhlenberg College, it MUST BE reported to the Office of Financial Aid.  These are considered outside scholarships and MUST BE treated in accordance with the college’s policy which may be found at https://www.muhlenberg.edu/media/contentassets/pdf/about/finaid/muhlenberg_revisions_AY0910.pdf.

Students receiving Federal Aid will not have their Federal Aid disbursed until the start of their program.  Therefore, any Federal Title IV Refunds will not be calculated until that point.
