Kimberly Guyer
Vice President for College Life
Kimberly Guyer, Ed.D., has over 25 years of experience in higher education at a variety of public and private institutions and has held positions in Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Enrollment Management, which has contributed to developing a holistic approach in supporting students and enhancing the student experience. A Pennsylvania native, she joined Muhlenberg College as the Vice President for College Life in January 2025.
Previously, Kimberly served as the Interim Associate Vice President and Dean of Students at Florida State University where she oversaw the health and wellness portfolio, which departments, such as accessibility services, counseling, recreation, student conduct, Title IX, and health services. In this role, she oversaw six direct reports, led over three hundred staff, and administered a budget of over $50M.
Prior to this role, Kimberly served as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. In this role, she oversaw a variety of academic support and student support departments. She also served as part of the campus' strategic enrollment team, representing the division on enrollment and retention matters. She co-led with her counterpart in Academic Affairs the development and writing of a campus-wide, student retention strategic plan; co-led the Retention and Graduation Subcommittee; and co-led the Learning Communities Steering Committee. As the backup to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, she also oversaw up to ten direct reports, led up to ninety-five staff, and administered a budget of about $20M.
Previous roles included Vice President for Student Affairs at Alfred University (2019-2021), Vice Dean for Student Affairs at Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communication (2009-2019), Director of the Student Resource Center at Drexel University (2006-2009), and various positions at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School (2003-2006). She got her start in higher education and student affairs at Pennsylvania State University, University Park over twenty-five years ago.
The first in her family to go to college, Kimberly earned a Doctor of Education degree (Ed.D.) in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education in 2013. Her dissertation is entitled “An Examination of First- to Second-Year Persistence of First-Generation College Students” and is a mixed-methods study. She also earned a Master of Science degree in Education (M.S. Ed.) with a specialization in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, a Master of Arts degree (M.A.) in Human Resources Management from Hawaii Pacific University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in French and Spanish from Susquehanna University. While at Susquehanna, she spent a semester in San Germán, Puerto Rico and a summer in Aix-en-Provence, France to hone her language skills and experience new cultures.
In 2018, she attended the Harvard University Graduate School of Education Institute for Management and Leadership in Education (MLE) in Cambridge, MA. In 2010, she participated in the HERS (Higher Education Resource Services) Leadership Institute in Bryn Mawr, PA and served on the HERS faculty in June 2017 in Bryn Mawr, PA. Dr. Guyer has been actively involved in NASPA, the professional organization for student affairs administrators in higher education, for over ten years, including serving more than five years on the Region II Advisory Board as the Pennsylvania State Representative, Upstate New York State Representative, and Membership Coordinator. While in Colorado, she served as Volunteer Coordinator on the Region IV-West Advisory Board.
Kimberly is an avid distance runner, having completed three marathons, seventeen half marathons, and many more races of varying lengths in twelve states. She and her partner, Michael, are animal lovers and have a golden retriever and cats. She also enjoys traveling, horseback riding, skiing, snow shoeing, and ice skating.
