Anam Ali ’25 grew up in the Lehigh Valley and attended a local high school. She knew she wanted to attend medical school, and she didn’t have to look far for a college with a reputation for great outcomes in the health professions.

“I’ve come to really appreciate just how supportive everyone is,” says Ali, a premed biochemistry major and Spanish minor. “Everyone’s been great in helping me see that connection to medicine — see the connection between English and medicine, see the connection between Spanish and medicine … but also providing me with the opportunities necessary in order to build that stronger career profile that would allow me to stay as a competitive applicant come time to apply to medical school.”

Here, Anam explains the research she’s conducted as a student, discusses her involvement in campus organizations (from the Muslim Student Association to the Alpha Epsilon Delta prehealth honor society to the Knitting Club) and reflects on the importance of the liberal arts for a future medical professional.
