Spanish Major Requirements

The Spanish Major consists of 9 courses total beyond the SPN 204 course. To be accepted as a major in Spanish, a student must have an average of at least 2.0 in the intermediate language courses (203-204) taken at Muhlenberg College or demonstrate a fluent command of the language.

Two Advanced Language and Communication Courses: 
Students may take either SPN-301 or SPN-303. If SPN 301 or SPN-303 is fulfilled through placement, the student substitutes an extra 400-level class to complete the 9-course major.

SPN 385 Spanish for the Medical Professions

SPN 327 Public Health in Practice: Panamá (MILA, DE, IL, or SL; cross-listed PBH-327)

Four Advanced Literature or Skills Courses:

** Spanish 304 normally serve as prerequisites to all courses numbered 400 or higher. All majors must maintain an average of at least 2.0 in all work done in the department. The 304 course will fulfill the College’s second writing intensive course requirement for all majors.


Spanish Minor Requirements

The Spanish Major consists of 6 courses total beyond the SPN 204 course. Students must maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average in all courses for the minor. The SPN 304 course will fulfill the College’s second writing intensive course requirement for all minors.

Two Advanced Language and Communication Courses: 
Students may take either SPN-301 or SPN-303. If SPN 301 or SPN-303 is fulfilled through placement, the student substitutes an extra 400-level class to complete the 6-course minor.
