How do I qualify for financial aid?
Eligibility for federal and state aid is determined by a student's annual filing of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You should file your FAFSA between January 1st and May 1st.
What is the income cut-off for financial aid?
There is no income cut-off for financial aid. The amount of financial aid you will receive is determined by your family's financial need as calculated by your annual filing of the FAFSA. This application takes into account the student's and parents' of dependent student’s income and assets, number in family, and the number of family members in college.
How can I be considered an independent student?
In order to be considered independent for federal and state purposes, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- Age 24 before January 1st
- Be a veteran of the US Armed Forces
- Married
- An orphan or ward of the court
- Have legal dependents other than a spouse.
My student loans are currently in default. How can I go back to school and receive financial aid?
You should contact the servicer(s) of your student loans to set up arrangements to return your loans to good standing. Typically this requires making 6 consecutive payments. Your loan servicer can be found on the student loan website
What are the components of a financial aid package for a Continuing Education student?
The typical financial aid package for a Continuing Education student will usually consist of one
or more of the following:
- Federal Pell Grant: This grant is awarded by the federal government based on need and does not need to be repaid.
- State PHEAA Grant: This grant is awarded by the state government and does not need to be repaid.
- Federal Direct Loans: Loans need to be repaid, but can be deferred while you are enrolled in 2 or more classes.
Can I borrow money to cover expenses other than tuition?
Yes, your Cost of Attendance or financial aid budget is made up of actual tuition, fees and estimates for books, supplies, personal expenses, transportation, and room and board.

Is there a path to the MAA if I already earned the Muhlenberg College Data Analytics Certificate?
For those who have already earned the Muhlenberg College Data Analytics Certificate, there is a curriculum path for you to complete the full Masters Applied Analytics Degree. You will only need to complete the remaining half (6 courses) required. Also, for those who successfully graduated with the Muhlenberg College Data Analytics Certificate, there is no application process.
