Wednesday, October 25, the department was fortunate enough to welcome Abigail De Kosnik, Associate Professor at Berkeley Center for New Media, to campus. As a part of the Sue Curry Jansen Honors Lecture, DeKosnik spoke about the intersection of media and the transgender community. After a special introduction from Muhlenberg professor, Dr. Irene Chien, DeKosnik went on to discuss how mainstream media presents a skewed view of the trans community and often degrades trans-artists in the industry. DeKosnik also visited with students in Dr. Lora Taub-Pervizpour's class to discuss her research in further detail.
