Research in Mathematics
Discover how to fulfill your CUE requirement by taking on a research project.
When you study math at Muhlenberg, you’ll enjoy ample opportunities to tailor your studies to your personal goals and interests.
Many students obtain research grants as part of Muhlenberg’s Summer Research program. Faculty and students often collaborate in novel mathematical research. Students also serve as Learning Assistants and workshop leaders, helping their peers understand and excel in mathematics and statistics courses. Math majors often compete in math competitions or present their research at conferences.
Our math majors have been accepted into highly competitive REUs (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) sponsored by the National Science Foundation. Accepted students receive stipends and, in many cases, assistance with housing and travel.
Beyond or in addition to research, students often participate in internships spanning a range of industries. Recent opportunities include software engineering at Publicis Sapient in London and data analytics for the New York Giants football team.
