Economics Honors Society
Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE) is an International Honors Society for Economics. The objectives of ODE are recognition of scholastic attainment, the honoring of outstanding achievements in economics, and the establishment of closer ties between students and faculty in economics. Once inducted, a student is a member for life, and is expected to always strive for excellence in all that they do.
Requirements for acceptance into the Alpha Eta chapter of ODE:
- Declared Economics major/minor.
- Achieved a major/minor GPA of 3.7 or above.
- Recommendation by a department faculty member.
In the spring semester, the economics faculty host an induction ceremony to recognize and celebrate the outstanding academic achievements of students who accepted the invitation to join ODE.

Alumnus Jim Skidmore
Jim graduated from Muhlenberg in 1954 with a degree in Economics. He currently serves on the Board of Trustee, he received the “Outstanding Achievement in Life” alumni award just 12 years after graduating, and was recently inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. His accolades extend far beyond Muhlenberg, President Reagan honored him the “National Volunteer Award” and he was honored with the “Outstanding Contribution to the Communities of our Nation” award. Jim has also held executive and/or director positions at Science Management Company, LLC, Horizon Blue Cross-Blue Shield for New Jersey, and the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of New York – and that is only a few.
