Jacy Good ’08 will receive an honorary degree during the Muhlenberg College 2025 commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 18, at 10 a.m. at the PPL Center in Allentown. Good is a nationally known and awarded advocate and public speaker for cell-free roads.

In May of 2008 both of Good’s parents were killed and Jacy was herself severely injured on the way home from her Muhlenberg College graduation ceremony. The devastating crash was caused by a driver distracted by a cell phone conversation. Less than a year after that life-altering tragedy, Jacy began to campaign for a cell phone ban in her native Pennsylvania, leading to requests for appearances on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” at Maria Shriver’s Women's Conference, and with United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon at his Call to End the Global Epidemic of Distracted Driving.

Good took to the road in 2011 with Steve Johnson ’08, in a continuing effort to prevent distracted driving horrors from touching others' lives. Now married, Good and Johnson have given their Hang Up And Drive presentation to more than 1,700 audiences in 44 states, Washington D.C., Canada and Europe, in an effort to prevent such horrors from touching others' lives.

Good has also been featured as a "Hero Among Us" in People magazine and on CNN’s “The Human Factor” among many dozens of other print and television profiles. A 2016 AT&T PSA starring her went viral, with over 350 million views across social media.

Highly active as a student, Good was a member of the RJ Fellows honors program and Phi Beta Kappa honor society at Muhlenberg College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in international studies and German studies.
