Cartelli, professor of English and film studies, was named the recipient of The Daniel J. and Carol Shiner Wilson Grant for the Completion of Scholarly Projects.

Thomas Cartelli - 2019 Honors Convocation

The Daniel J. and Carol Shiner Wilson Grant for the Completion of Scholarly Projects is presented to faculty to assist with the completion of a significant work of scholarly activity. Cartelli will use the funding to help with publication costs associated with his book entitled: “Re-enacting Shakespeare in the Shakespeare Aftermath."

Professor Cartelli's teaching and research interests in English and film studies include teaches Shakespeare, medieval literature, Caribbean writing, contemporary world cinema, film and culture of North Africa & the Middle-East and Asian cinema. He is the previous recipient of The Class of 1932 Research Professorship, The Donald C. Hoffman Research Fellowship, The Shire Prize for Excellence in Teaching and The Lindback Prize for Distinguished Teaching.

Cartelli earned his bachelor's in literature from Bennington College and his master's and Ph.D. in literature from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
