Muhlenberg College will host Constitution Day 2013: Why Immigration Reform? Perspectives & Possibilities, on Thursday, September 12 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. in the Seegers Union Event Space.
This event is co-sponsored by the Center for Popular Democracy, Grupo de Apoyo e Integración Hispanoamericano and by Muhlenberg College's Office of the Provost, Department of Political Science and the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures.
At this panel discussion and community forum, which is free and open to the public, Lehigh Valley business leaders, labor leaders, elected officials, clergy and veterans will offer their perspectives on the nationwide immigration reform debate.
Panelists include: Kathryn T. Albarelli, J.D. (Immigration attorney, Schoener and Associates); Julio Guridy (President, Allentown City Council); Adanjesús Marín (SEIU Healthcare PA); Rev. Ismael Medina (Primera Iglesia Bautista, Bethlehem); Irv Weinreich (Veterans of Foreign Wars).
The discussions will be moderated by Max Cohen (Center for Popular Democracy); Michele Deegan, Ph.D. (Associate Professor and Chair of Political Science, Muhlenberg College); Richard Huizar, Ph.D. (Consortium for Faculty Diversity Fellow in Political Science and Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Muhlenberg College); and Erika M. Sutherland, Ph.D. (Associate Professor of Spanish, Muhlenberg College, and Director, Grupo de Apoyo e Integración Hispanoamericano).
