Muhlenberg College names New Chaplain
The Reverend Callista Isabelle has been named Chaplain at Muhlenberg College.Monday, December 5, 2011 09:58 AM
She will begin her duties February 13, 2012. Rev. Isabelle is currently the Associate University Chaplain at Yale University, where she has served since 2006.
A native of Iowa, Isabelle is a 2000 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, MN. She is also a 2005 graduate of Yale Divinity School and the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. Isabelle is an ordained minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in American (ELCA) and has participated in several ELCA Global Mission Events.
“I am thrilled that Callista has accepted our invitation to join the College community,” says Muhlenberg College President Peyton R. Helm. “Muhlenberg is a religiously diverse community and during her extended campus interview she impressed students, staff and faculty alike with her intellect, empathy, energy and her enthusiasm for interfaith dialogue.”
At Muhlenberg, Isabelle will be a member of the College’s senior staff and have responsibilities for all religious life programs on campus. The Chaplain is actively involved in campus life, and is a critical part of the campus counseling and crisis management efforts.
Founded in 1848, Muhlenberg College is a private, residential, highly selective, liberal arts college in Allentown, Pa. It is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Muhlenberg College is a liberal arts college of about 2,200 students in Allentown, Pa. The College offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in theater and dance. Princeton ranks Muhlenberg’s theater program first in the nation, and the Fiske Guide to Colleges lists both the theater and dance programs among the top small college programs in the United States. Muhlenberg is one of only eight colleges to be listed in Fiske for both theater and dance.
