The agreement between the college and the school district stipulates that three senior students from William Allen High School, and another three from Louis E. Dieruff High School, will have the opportunity to enroll in the courses of their choice during Muhlenberg’s second summer session.  The students will be recommended for the opportunity by guidance counselors and principals at each school by June 1st.  After meeting with Muhlenberg academic advisors about their future educational goals, the students receiving the scholarship will take part in classes from July 7 - August 14.   There is no cost for the courses, aside from books or other materials, and nearly one hundred classes will be made available to the graduating seniors.

“The District and Muhlenberg College have had an extremely long and valuable relationship, dating back to the founding of both institutions,” says Dr. Karen S. Angello, ASD superintendent. “This is just one more way that we can collaborate and share Muhlenberg’s educational assets with our students; it’s another motivational tool.”

Throughout the summer, students will also benefit from academic mentoring by the Dean of the Wescoe School, Jane Hudak.  She comments, "We work with many high school students from the surrounding region each summer who wish to get a jump on their college career.  With our beautiful campus and small classroom size, Muhlenberg is a great place for students to "try out" the college classroom experience.  Summer is an exciting time on campus, with many interesting courses from which to choose.  I am thrilled to open this opportunity to students from William Allen and Dieruff High Schools."
