Scholar-Activist Staughton Lynd To Speak At ‘Berg
On March 20, scholar-activist Dr. Staughton Lynd will present a lecture entitled “America Behind Bars: Incarceration, Race and Class” at 7 p.m. in Empie Theatre, Center for the Arts.Tuesday, March 13, 2007 01:59 PM
The lecture is free and open to the public.
The author and editor of numerous books, the director of the Freedom Schools on the 1964 Mississippi Summer Project, a leader of the anti-war movement during the Vietnam War and a labor lawyer who championed the rights of rank and file workers, Lynd has been a tireless advocate of social justice and peace in our time.
Lynd will lecture on the contemporary struggle for justice regarding incarceration, race and class, the subject of his most recent book, Lucasville: The Untold Story of a Prison Uprising (Temple University Press, 2004).
