Norman Sarachek: Marks on Silver June 1 – August 4, 2007
The Martin Art Gallery at Muhlenberg College proudly hosts Norman Sarachek: Marks on Silver, June 1 through August 4, 2007 in the Martin Art Gallery in the Baker Center for the Arts.Friday, June 15, 2007 01:59 PM
In his provocative exploration of mark making, Sarachek, merges the aesthetics of abstract painting and printmaking with materials and processes generally associated with photography. The 32 images in the exhibition reflect his ability to strive for a delicate balance between using technical skills and allowing opportunity for chance, or randomness, to play a role. Sarachek’s imagery evokes a variety of responses— from tangible to ephemeral— and leaves the viewer ample opportunity to engage.
He has exhibited regionally for more than a decade. His work is included in the collections of the Center for Photography at Woodstock, SUNY, New Platz N.Y. and Art in the Embassies Program in Washington, D.C. A reception will be held in the Gallery, Wednesday, June 6, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Gallery hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays, noon – 9:00 p.m. Information: contact Kathryn Burke at 484.664.3467 or [email protected]. An exhibition catalogue can be provided on request.
