Ken Zuckerman Performs Classical Indian Music At Muhlenberg College
Muhlenberg College welcomes Ken Zuckerman, internationally acclaimed sarod virtuoso, for a recital on Wednesday, October 10 at 7 p.m. in Miller Forum, Moyer Hall.Tuesday, October 2, 2007 01:59 PM
Zuckerman’s performance, part of the series Globalization from Above and Below, is co-sponsored by the Lectures and Forums Committee and Facing East/Facing West. The recital is free and open to the public.
Zuckerman has completed 35 years of training under the rigorous discipline of India’s legendary sarod master, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, and has performed with Maestro Khan in numerous concerts in Europe, India and the United States. In addition to performing classical Indian music, he has been at the vanguard of numerous cultural crossover projects, including the Grammy-nominated CD Diaspora Sefardi. In addition to his performance schedule, Zuckerman also directs the Ali Akbar College of Music in Switzerland in Basel and is a teacher at the Music Conservatory of Basel, where he conducts courses in both North Indian classical music and the music of the Middle Ages. He will be accompanied on Tabla by Samir Chatterjee, a virtuoso performer in his own right.
