Heft, Fletcher, Haas: Recent Work August 29 - September 29, 2007
The Martin Art Gallery at Muhlenberg College proudly hosts Heft, Fletcher, Haas: Recent Work, August 29 – September 29, 2007 in the Martin Art Gallery in the Baker Center for the Arts.Monday, August 20, 2007 01:59 PM
Carol Heft deftly uses charcoal, graphite, and conte crayon to create drawings as diverse as intricate Manhattan cityscapes and figure studies formed by energized mark making. Using graphite pencils, graphite and watercolor washes, and conte and watercolor washes on hot press watercolor paper, Leslie J. Fletcher precisely explores concurrent dualities of line, shape, color, value, texture, and space. The tack-sharp, silver gelatin prints by David Haas document a variety of subjects and locations, and portray a wide range of moods. All three artists’ masterful use of media, color, composition, and subject invite viewers to explore and ponder the many unexpected and intriguing similarities of their work.
All three artists have exhibited extensively for decades, have work in numerous private and public collections, and teach studio art classes at Muhlenberg College and other colleges and universities in the area.
A reception and gallery talk will be held in the Gallery, Wednesday, September 5, 4:30 – 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Gallery hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays, noon – 9:00 p.m. Information: contact Kathryn Burke at 484.664.3467 or [email protected]. An exhibition booklet is available upon request.
