Center For Ethics Presents Panel Discussion On Foreign Polices
Scholars Surjit Mansingh and Quansheng Zhao will participate in a panel discussion, “The Ethics of Emerging Powers: Chinese and Indian Foreign Policies in an Era of Globalization,” on October 3 at 7 p.m. in Miller Forum, Moyer Hall.Wednesday, September 26, 2007 01:59 PM
The event, part of the semester-long series Globalization From Above and Below, is free and open to the public.
In their discussion, the two panelists will compare and contrast Chinese and Indian foreign policy reactions to globalization with some reference to Chinese and Indian perceptions regarding the ethics of globalization and the U.S. role in globalization.
Mansingh, visiting scholar at George Washington and American Universities, is a professor of politics. She has published works such as: Indian and Chinese Foreign Policies in Comparative Perspective and India’s Search for Power: Indira Gandhi’s Foreign Policy, 1966 – 82. Her current research focuses on a comparative analysis of Chinese and Indian foreign policies, specifically, how similar challenges in external relations have been handled differently by Beijing and New Delhi.
Zhao, professor of comparative and regional studies and Asian studies atAmerican University, focuses on research in comparative politics and international relations, including foreign policymaking, political development, process of democratization, internal relations theory, national security and international political economy. His primary geographical focus is China, Japan and other parts of the Asia-Pacific area. He is author of Interpreting Chinese Foreign Policy and Japanese Policymaking. Zhao is editor of Future Trends on East Asian International Relations and co-editor of Politics of Divided Nations: China, Korea, Germany and Vietnam.
