The Magic Continues At Muhlenberg College

Beginning in September, Muhlenberg College will kick off the fourth series of its nationally recognized, award-winning program, The Theory and Art of Magic, a distinctive, scholarly celebration of the magical arts.

 Friday, August 18, 2006 01:59 PM

Created by Dr. Lawrence Hass, philosopher, magician and professor of philosophy for at Muhlenberg, The Theory and Art of Magic program is the first on-going academic symposium of the magical arts. At the heart of the program is a series of visits to the College by world-class magicians and theorists who perform astonishing magic, teach classes, and give philosophical talks on the nature of magic as an important human experience and as a performing art. In conjunction with these "magicians-in-residence," the College offers courses that dovetail with the program, including a studio arts class on performance magic.

In selecting guests for The Theory and Art of Magic, Muhlenberg has always sought to honor master magicians and acclaimed teachers of the art. This fall, that tradition continues as we feature Teller, John Carney, Eugene Burger, Jamy Ian Swiss, Jim Steinmeyer, and Margaret Steele and James Hamilton.

Tickets to the event are now available through the College’s Box Office at 484-664-3333.  For more information about the series, visit www.muhlenberg.edu/cultural/magic.
