Muhlenberg College Hillel Receives Accreditation
Muhlenberg College Hillel became the first Hillel at a small, liberal arts college to receive accreditation last month from the Board of Directors of Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life.Tuesday, June 6, 2006 01:59 PM
The accreditation recognizes its adherence to Hillel’s international standards of excellence.
To receive accreditation, Hillel Foundations must demonstrate compliance with standards of excellence in the areas of governance, student programs, communications, resources and management systems. The Hillel accreditation team – comprising an international center staff member, a student, a field staff member and a lay leader – also evaluates the Foundation’s relationship with its university and local Jewish community. The Board of Directors also reaccredited University of Pennsylvania Hillel last month .
“The accreditation of these Hillels represents their continued dedication to serving Jewish students on campuses around the world,” said Hillel President Avraham Infeld.
To date, Hillel has accredited 74 Foundations across the United States and Canada. These campuses represent a broad range of Foundation profiles : small and large schools, residential and commuter campuses , as well as public and private universities. Every Hillel has been assigned a date for participation, with the goal of accreditation for all Hillel Foundations.
The largest Jewish campus organization in the world, Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life seeks to inspire every Jewish student to make an enduring commitment to Jewish life through its network of more than 500 campus foundations, program centers and affiliates. Hillel enriches the lives of Jewish undergraduate and graduate students of all backgrounds so they may enrich the Jewish people and the world.
