Mark Crispin Miller To Speak At Muhlenberg
New York University professor, Mark Crispin Miller, will speak as part of Muhlenberg College’s Freedom Matters series on October 19 at 7 p.m. in Miller Forum, Moyer Hall.Monday, October 16, 2006 01:59 PM
The event, titled, “Decline And Fall: The History of the Corporate Press Since Watergate,” is free and open to the public.
Miller is a professor of Culture and Communication at New York University, as well as a well-known critic of the Bush Administration, with notable credit seen through his writing of The Bush Dyslexicon in 2001.
Miller’s talk will focus on the issues surrounding the threat to the free exchange of information and ideas by the consolidation of media ownership. He will explore the power of the media in controlling and administering messages to the public. In addition, Miller will question the motives of media corporations and examine the Internet as a method of either contributing to or preventing autonomy from the profit-driven conglomerates.
Freedom Matters is a year long series of programs, sponsored by the Muhlenberg College Center for Ethics, about the history, limits and controversial components of freedom.
