Funds are earmarked for the College’s $27.5 million science building construction and renovation project. The science facilities improvement program includes construction of a new interdisciplinary science building and extensive renovations to Shankweiler science building, housing the Acopian Center for Ornithology.

“This construction supports a rigorous academic and service learning program that benefits our community and Commonwealth,” explains President Randy Helm.

In fall 2006, the College announced a new public health minor which will facilitate the delivery of quality healthcare resources to our Pennsylvania communities. “Our Commonwealth and community will continue to benefit from Muhlenberg’s nationally recognized science curriculum, health related service learning initiatives, and its recent commitment to training public health workers,” reports Senator Browne.

More than 580 Pennsylvania physicians received their undergraduate science training at Muhlenberg, 123 of these practicing in Lehigh County. In 2006, 90% of the College’s pre-med graduates were accepted to competitive medical schools. Eighty-seven percent of Muhlenberg’s pre-health graduates were accepted to dental, optometry and podiatry schools. These numbers reflect only a fraction of the total number of Muhlenberg-trained science researchers and health professionals who serve our community, our state, and our nation.
