“Private Eyes” is a strangely romantic comedy about the confusion and heartache we spin out of telling lies. The play investigates a love affair of passion and deception that is twisted to a delicious frenzy in a funny, turbulent and time-bending journey. The journey sends the structure of the play and the audience’s perception of the players into a spiraling fantasy.

“Private Eyes” has the popular distinction of being one of the10 most produced plays in the American theater in 1998; the 20+ plays that Dietz has written have received several hundred productions in some 80 regional theatres across the country. His notable plays include “Lonely Planet,” which won the PEN USA Award in Drama, Outer Critic Circle’s Nomination, and Drama-Logue Award and re-staged was produced Off-Broadway at Circle Repertory Company in 1995; and “Still Life with Iris” (Seattle Children’s Theatre 1996) which won a production grant from the Kennedy Center’s Fund for New American Plays Award and also won the American Alliance for Theatre and Education “Distinguished Play” award.
