By weaving together the stories of the ensemble cast into a seamless whole, “A Chorus Line” provides its audience with an innovative and compelling night of theatre and dance. The show’s critical acclaim, 9 Tony Awards, and popular following stem from its striking score—including “What I Did for Love,” “One” and “Nothing”—and its dazzling dance sequences. “A Chorus Line” follows the moments of desire and despair for the 32 gypsies, or the ensemble dancers, as they audition for the chorus of a Broadway musical. Audiences will not want to miss a moment as the show twists and turns through the process until the final, ultimate choices of four men and four women remain onstage. The heartbreaking, funny, and bittersweet journey ends as the dancers stage the brilliant finale of “A Chorus Line.” This production not only features the original choreography but also include cast members from the Broadway run.
Director Charles Richter is Head of Theatre & Dance at Muhlenberg College and has taught and directed there for 25 years. His production of “The Good Woman of Setzuan” was presented at the American College Theatre Festival in 1991. He is the founding artistic director of the Muhlenberg Summer Music Theatre and has recently directed “Crazy for You,” “The Music Man,” “Anything Goes,” “42nd Street” and “Gypsy” on the summer stage.
