MUHLENBERG TO HONOR BRADT, ENTREPRENEURIAL STUDENTS

Muhlenberg College will hold its annual Entrepreneurial Awards luncheon on Thursday, April 11, in Miller Forum, Moyer Hall. A student project fair will begin at 11:30 a.m. The luncheon and awards will follow at 12:30 p.m. The award ceremony is not open to the public. The ceremony will recognize this year's Entrepreneurial Studies Program student award recipients and celebrate the 10th anniversary of Muhlenberg's outstanding Entrepreneurial Studies Program.

L. Jack Bradt will be honored as Muhlenberg College's Distinguished Entrepreneur of the Year 2002. Bradt graduated from Cornell University in 1953 with a degree in Mechanical Industrial Engineering. He joined Safety Industries in New Haven, Connecticut, where he became assistant to the president responsible for a program of diversification and expansion. When a fire destroyed the plant in 1958, Bradt formed SI Handling Systems to acquire what was left of the company when the parent was not interested in rebuilding. He was President, CEO and Chairman until 1986.

Bradt has served on the faculty of Lehigh University, teaching courses in entrepreneurship, business policy and strategic management in the Masters of Business program. He was Executive in Residence at Cornell's Johnson School teaching policy, strategy and leadership in the MBA program. From 1994-98 he was Director of Human Services in Northampton County, Pa. He has been an officer and director of a number of local state and national organizations involved in business, education, religion, government and human services.
