Muhlenberg College will sponsor a series of free seminars for educators, designed to keep teachers abreast of current issues in natural science, environment and ecology as well as pedagogy. Informative and timely topics will be presented by experts, along with time for questions, discussion, related teaching strategies and resources. All teachers are welcome to attend. Muhlenberg biology professor Daniel Klem will outline his techniques for spotting and identifying fall migrating bird species, using the recently-published "Birds of the Lehigh Valley."

Andrea Teti, environmental consultant and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service certified bog turtle surveyor, will discuss the little-known turtle.

Lafayette College engineering professor Art Kney will share his knowledge on the identification and preservation of wetland plants and habitat, giving some insight on their uses in environmental engineering.

"Assessment for the PA Environment and Ecology Standards"
Patti Vathis, Pa. Dept. of Education advisor for environment and ecology, will explain the statewide assessment in ecology and environment, a test that will be taken by all public school students in grades 4, 7 and 10. Dr. Vathis will provide information on the resources available to teachers. Copies of the new handbook for teachers for the PSSA State Assessment will be available.
