Muhlenberg College's Martin Art Gallery Features 100 Years Of Art By Women Artists

The Martin Art Gallery at Muhlenberg College will host the traveling museum exhibition "Women Artists: Past & Present," October 24, 2002 - January 17, 2003. The public is invited to an opening reception with a gallery talk by the curator, Jennifer Olson Rudenko, and the participating artists, Thursday, October 24, 4 - 7 p.m. in the Martin Art Gallery, Baker Center for the Arts on the Muhlenberg campus in Allentown.
This highly anticipated exhibition features major works of art by women artists in painting, sculpture, photography, and printmaking. Works by acclaimed artists including Mary Cassatt, Violet Oakley, Imogen Cunningham, Francoise Gilot, Miriam Schapiro, Faith Ringgold and Judy Chicago and a number of contemporary artists' work will be on display. Works on exhibit are from the College's world-class permanent art collection as well as from public and private collections.
"Women Artists: Past & Present" is guest curated by Jennifer Olson Rudenko of the El Paso Museum of Art in El Paso, Texas. After the show's run at Muhlenberg, the exhibition will travel to the Erie Art Museum in Erie, Pa., and the Phillips Museum of Art on the campus of Franklin & Marshall College.
