Muhlenberg College has received a $20,211 gift from Citizen's National Bank under a new Pa. Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) initiative.
The gift will be shared by two new outreach programs for local public school children. The College's 2002 Summer Science Camp, directed by Bruce Anderson, Ph.D., associate professor of chemistry, will bring up to 20 high school students to campus for a week of intense scientific discovery. Muhlenberg's Writing Academy, to be supervised by Linda Miller, associate professor of English and director of Muhlenberg's Writing Center, will bring renowned writers to public schools for advanced reading, writing and literature activities.
The science camp is scheduled for summer 2002 and is open to high school students in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Interested students can contact Bruce Anderson at 484-664-3266 for application information. Writing Academy is slated for spring 2002; local high school administrators can contact Linda Miller at 484-664-3316 for program details.
Muhlenberg is proud to partner with Citizen's National Bank in the Commonwealth's new Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program, which authorizes the award of tax credits to businesses that make contributions to designated educational improvement initiatives.
