Muhlenberg College's Asian Traditions program will sponsor two evenings of traditional Indian music and dance in celebration of life and art:
The Kalapriya Dancers will present KAAL, a Bharata Natyam recital featuring dancer Pranita Jain, Monday, October 1, 7:30 p.m., Dorothy Hess Baker Theatre in the Trexler Pavilion for Theatre and Dance.
A Hindustani music concert will be given Wednesday, October 17, 7:30 p.m., Egner Memorial Chapel. This performance by Indian musicians Ken Zuckerman and Samir Chatterjee will be reflective of several Indian dialects. Zuckerman will play the sarod, a steel-faced instrument of the lute family. Chatterjee will perform on the tabla, a percussion instrument.
Both events are free and open to the public. Event co-sponsors are the departments of theatre, dance, and music; the Office of Multicultural Life; the International Students Association; the Office of the Deans; the Lectures and Forums Committee; and the Hindu Temple Society.
