GUERRILLA GIRLS TO VISIT MUHLENBERG COLLEGE

The Guerrilla Girls, an anonymous group of women artists who fight discrimination in the arts, will perform at Muhlenberg College, November 7, 8 p.m., in the Miller Forum of Moyer Hall. The lecture/performance is free and open to the public.
The women, who have dubbed themselves "the conscience of culture," use humor to convey information, provoke discussion, and show that feminists can be funny. In the last sixteen years, the Guerrilla Girls have produced over 80 posters, printed projects, and actions that expose sexism and racism in the worlds of art, film, theater and in the culture at large.
The Guerrilla Girls have appeared at hundreds of colleges, universities, conferences and art museums in the United States, Europe, South America and Africa, have received awards from the National Organization for Women, the New York City Borough President, the National Library Association, the Center for Women's Policy Studies, New York Woman magazine and the Ministry of Culture in Berlin.
The Guerrilla Girls' performance is the first event in the yearlong "Art, Artists and Responsibility" series, sponsored by the Center for Ethics and Leadership. The next event is a discussion on the ethics of art restoration, Thursday, November 15, 4 p.m., in the Hoffman House at 23rd and Chew streets.
