Pianist Hanchien Lee has established herself as a successful soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. Since her debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra at age sixteen, she has performed throughout North America, Europe and Asia, appearing at venues such as Steinway Hall in New York, Academy of Music, Kimmel Center in Philadelphia and Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore, and has given recitals at the Basilica San Pietro in Italy, Centro Cultural del Antiguo in Spain and Taipei Convention Center in Taiwan.

The Alexander Quartet

Founded in New York City in 1981, the Alexander String Quartet has been based in San Francisco since 1989, although its extensive annual concert tours have taken the musicians to five continents, from Lincoln Center to Georgia (the former Soviet one) and to the Philippines. They are known for their collaborations—with both performers and composers. The quartet has performed more than 25 commissioned works by important contemporary composers like frequent collaborator Robert Greenberg and Wayne Peterson, recipient of the Pulitzer Prize. According to The Boston Globe, the Alexander Quartet regularly delivers “dream-come-true performances, impressing with their sure ensemble, lyricism, accurate pitch, handsome sound and technical fluidity.”

A violist of international reputation, Roberto Díaz is president and CEO of the Curtis Institute of Music, following in the footsteps of renowned soloist/directors such as Josef Hofmann, Efrem Zimbalist, and Rudolf Serkin. As a teacher of viola at Curtis and former principal viola of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Mr. Díaz has already had a significant impact on American musical life and continues to do so in his dual roles as performer and educator.
