Before using the Makerspace all students, faculty, and staff must:

  1. Register for and attend the Safety Training and Orientation Session with Makerspace staff;
  2. Read Makerspace User Agreement & Safety Document;
  3. Digitally sign the Makerspace Community Contract

Initial orientation and training sessions allow community members to use the space during open hours. If you would like to use any equipment that is part of the color coding system, you will need to complete additional training sessions. Basic Safety Guidelines:

  • Only use equipment with proper training/ supervision.
  • Comply with all safety signage at all times.
  • Users must wear required safety gear when operating equipment in the Makerspace.
  • Tie back hair and check for loose clothing/accessories before operating equipment.
  • Closed toe shoes must be worn at all times in the FabLab area.
  • Familiarize yourself with the location of fire suppression devises, emergency electric shut off switches, and the emergency phone.
  • All users must read and comply with the full set of safety instructions that can be found below.
