This database contains nucleotide sequences from an international collection of sequence databases obtained from the National Center for Biotechnology Information's (NCBI) GenBank, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), and the DNA Database of Japan (DDBJ). The number of nucleotide bases available to be searched is updated daily and grows exponentially doubling approximately every 14 months. Currently, the database contains more than 11 billion bases from over 100,000 species. Be sure to check out the most recent number of nucleotide bases in the database by looking at the number displayed in the yellow box on the Entrez Nucleotide search screen
