Institute of Public Opinion

The Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion (MCIPO) conducts scientific-based research related to public opinion at the local, state and national levels. Since its founding in 2001, the MCIPO has focused its attention on measuring the public’s views on electoral and public policy issues with a concentration on environmental and health matters. MCIPO consistently earns top ratings from FiveThirtyEight's Pollster Ratings, based on the historical accuracy and methodology of each polling organization's polls.

PA Presidential Election Survey - October 2024

In the final Muhlenberg College/Morning Call poll of the 2024 election season, Vice President Kamala Harris holds a narrow lead over former President Donald Trump, 49% to 47%, in their contest to secure PA’s coveted 19 Electoral College votes. In the U.S. Senate race in the Commonwealth, incumbent Democrat Bob Casey holds a three-point lead over his Republican challenger Dave McCormick. PA voters are close to evenly divided in terms of their party preferences within their congressional districts, with 47% intending to vote for the Republican candidate, and 46% planning to vote for the Democratic candidate in their U.S. House race.

Christopher Borick, professor of political science and director of the MCIPO, is a nationally recognized public-opinion researcher who has conducted more than 350 large-scale public opinion surveys over the past two decades. He founded MCIPO, which measures the public’s views on electoral and public policy issues with a concentration on environmental and health matters.
