Media & Communication and Film Studies Alumni Week

Alumni Week is an annual spring gathering of alums, students, &and faculty from the Department of Media & Communication, the Film Studies Program, and the Documentary Storymaking Program. Alumni return to campus to offer master classes, panels, and extensive networking opportunities. Current students are offered many opportunities to learn from the career paths alumni have taken and to start to build their own professional network (which is necessary to thrive in the film and media industries).

Film Screenings

Muhlenberg has an active film culture both on and off-campus. The student-run Muhlenberg Film Association screens two films a semester for the campus community, often outdoors on the College Green. Faculty regularly arrange special screenings, often accompanied by visiting filmmakers. The College’s partnership with the Civic Theatre, has brought special free screenings for students to the Civic, provided students with year-round discounts, and sponsored faculty-led discussions after films.

When in Walson

When in Walson features informal gatherings and activities that bring faculty, staff, and students together in our building. Stay tuned for this semester's events!

Society for Cinema and Media Studies undergraduate

In 2019, we were thrilled to host the yearly Society for Cinema and Media Studies undergraduate conference. SCMS-U is a competitive academic conference; 31 proposals from undergraduate film and media scholars were accepted and the students came to Muhlenberg from around the US, as well as from Canada and Hong Kong. Each student presented their research on themed panels and answered questions from those in the audience.
