Writers in Residence

Each term a practicing writer is brought to campus to teach a course and give readings as part of the ongoing “Writers-in-Residence Program.” As journalists, essay and magazine writers and editors as well as novelists and poets, these visitors are deeply involved in the profession of writing and bring their practical knowledge to bear on their teaching and mentoring. Students benefit by their real-world advice and one-to-one interaction. Recent writers have included New York Times writer Michael Kaufman, Laura Shaine Cunningham, and Jack McCallum, a senior writer for Sports Illustrated.
