McCALL NAMED TO ALL-AMERICA TEAM

Senior linebacker Dan McCall of the Muhlenberg football team was named to the D3football.com All-America third team.

McCall was the leader of a Mule defense that tied for 10th in Division III Dan McCall in yards allowed and ranked 14th in points allowed. He topped Muhlenberg in sacks (7½), tackles for loss (14½), fumbles recovered (four), fumbles forced (two), kicks blocked (two) and interceptions (two). McCall also was fourth on the team in total tackles (53) and third with six pass breakups. He returned two of his recovered fumbles for touchdowns.

McCall is the fifth Muhlenberg player to earn a spot on the D3football.com All-America team in the last seven years. Including teams selected by other organizations, McCall is the Mules’ eighth All-American since 1999.

Previously, McCall was named Centennial Conference defensive player of the year, first-team All-Centennial Conference, first-team All-South Region and South Jersey Division III player of the year.

Dan McCall
at the Aztec Bowl In his last collegiate game, McCall made two tackles and recovered a fumble to help Team U.S.A. to a 53-15 win against Mexico in the Aztec Bowl, played in Toluca, Mexico, on Saturday.

“It was a great experience, playing with an all-star team, representing my country and winning,” said McCall, who played on all the special teams and was in a three-player rotation at outside linebacker. “It was neat to play with people from other parts of the country, like the West Coast and Wisconsin, that you read about but would never get to meet [otherwise].”
