winless weekend for spring teams
BASEBALL Wilkes 9, Muhlenberg 0; Elizabethtown 5, Muhlenberg 1; Elizabethtown 6, Muhlenberg 0. The Mules managed only one run and seven hits in three weekend road
games. Freshman Brian Beck broke up a no-hitter in the seventh inning of Friday’s game against Wilkes with his first career hit, a pinch-hit double.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE Gettysburg 15, Muhlenberg 8. The Mules trailed No. 6 Gettysburg only 6-5 after junior Amanda McGovern scored 2:17 into the
second half, but the Bullets ran off the next nine goals to pull away. It was a far cry from last year, when Gettysburg held a 13-3 lead at halftime. Sophomore
Allisyn Vachon helped keep Muhlenberg in the game by making a career-high 16 saves. McGovern scored three goals for her third hat trick in as many games this season.
MEN’S LACROSSE Washington (Md.) 16, Muhlenberg 7. The 12th-ranked Shoremen broke an early 1-1 tie by scoring seven straight goals, including three consecutive
man-up goals in the second quarter, and went on to keep the Mules winless. Senior Nick Fletcher scored three goals for his second career hat trick (both
against Washington), and senior Dan Dugan was 7-for-11 on faceoffs.
MEN’S TENNIS Moravian 8, Muhlenberg 1. Freshman Jordan Rutt accounted for the lone Mule win as Moravian picked up a Matte Award victory.
Muhlenberg still leads, 7½-4½.
