Curriculum

More than 100 people are part of the Muhlenberg Summer Music Theatre company — directors, designers, actors, technicians, musicians, and administrators who are a mix of students, professionals, community members, and Muhlenberg College staff. We are a non-Equity company, though we hire Equity actors under the Guest Artist Contract.

Applications for technical positions are due in March, and auditions are held in February and March.

The college is located in a residential area in the beautiful West End of Allentown, Pa., with excellent sport and exercise facilities on campus. We are minutes away from the beautiful Poconos, an hour-and-a-half from New York City, and an hour from Philadelphia. Housing is provided for company members in Muhlenberg's dormitories. There are cooking facilities in the dormitories and inexpensive restaurants near the campus, but meals are not provided.

Except for volunteer ushers, all positions are filled for the 2017 season.

Actors

Auditions for adult community members and Muhlenberg students are held in February and March. Performers are paid a stipend for rehearsals and performances. Dormitory housing will be provided for performers who do not live in the Lehigh Valley area.

All auditions have been held for the 2017 season.

Production Staff

Muhlenberg Summer Music Theatre, an Equity LOA theatre in Pennsylvania's beautiful Lehigh Valley, is seeking a Wardrobe Supervisor for the 2017 summer season. Season includes "My Fair Lady," "Hair," and an all-ages, world-premiere of Circus.

Carpenters:Experience required in standard scenic construction techniques, ability to lift 50 lbs and working knowledge of shop equipment and tools. Must have ability to read and interpret scaled construction drawings. Season includes "My Fair Lady," "Hair," and an all-ages, world-premiere of Circus. Electricians: Experience in standard execution of stage lighting, including reading and interpreting lighting plots, hang, focus, and maintenance of equipment, ability to work at heights in excess of 40 feet, ability to lift 50 lbs, operate/program light board (ETC Ion and Expression 3) during rehearsals and performances, operation of follow spot during rehearsals and performances, install and wire stage practicals, and assist with shop carpentry as needed. Experience with DMX, moving lights, scrollers, and projections equipment helpful but not required. Employment from May 23 - August 3; competitive salary; housing provided. Electrician/Audio Engineer: Experience in standard execution of stage lighting, including reading and interpreting lighting plots, hang, focus, and maintenance of equipment, ability to work at heights in excess of 40 feet, ability to lift 50 lbs. Audio engineering duties include set up and operate sound system during during rehearsals and performances, maintain wireless microphones between performances. Experience with Yamaha LS-9 console and Shure ULX wireless mics strongly preferred, experience with digital consoles and wireless mics required. Cutter/Draper: The Cutter/Draper will work closely with the resident draper to divide the responsibilities for patterning the two musicals. The application deadline is March 9, 2017. Craft Artisan/Stitcher: This is a wonderful opportunity for candidates possessing excellent costume construction, alteration, and craft knowledge. The position of Craft Artisan/Stitcher would be expected to work on both costume and craft items. The application deadline is March 9, 2017. Technician dates run from May 23 to July 15. Stitcher: This is a wonderful opportunity for candidates possessing excellent costume construction, alteration, and previous theatrical costume experiences. The position of Stitcher will work closely with other members of the shop to complete builds and alterations on the season's costumes. The application deadline is March 9, 2017. Wardrobe/Costume Interns: This is a wonderful opportunity for candidates with costume production and wardrobe experience. Wardrobe/Costume Interns will run wardrobe for the two musicals and in addition will have some sewing responsibilities in the shop. The application deadline is March 9, 2017. Wardrobe Supervisor: This is a wonderful opportunity for candidates possessing wardrobe experience who are interested in stepping into a leadership role. The wardrobe supervisor would be responsible for supervising two wardrobe interns and ensuring that the prep and organization for the seasons run is complete.
