Off-Campus Research Presentations

Some students have the opportunity to present their research at regional and national conferences and competitions. Many of these presentations are supported by travels funds from the Dean of Academic Life.

2015

  • Kerry McGowan (’15) and Elizabeth Thompson (’15) with Dr. Erika Iyengar presented their work in poster presentations at the annual meeting of The Society for Integrative & Comparative Biology in West Palm Beach, FL on Jan 3-7, 2015
  • Erika Skyles (’15) and Kimberly Schoenberg (’15) with Dr. Connie Wolfe (Psychology) presented their work “Beautiful is…Mean? First Impressions and Physical Attractiveness” at the Eastern Psychological Association Conference during  March 5-8, 2015 in Philadelphia, PA.
  • Emily Goldberg (’17) presented her work “Shifting the Axiz Mundi: Finding Revelatory Experiences in the Mundane” at the Mid-Atlantic Region: American Academy of Religion Meeting on March 5, 2015.
  • Robin Spencer (’15) participated in the Stage Management Mentoring Project at the 2015 United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) Conference in Cincinatti, OH from March 18-21, 2015
  • Katherine Boll (’16) presented an open portfolio of her printmaking works at the Southern Graphics International: Sphere conference from  March 18-21, 2015 in Knoxville, TN. 
  • Dayna Kline (’15) and Dominic Mangino (’15) with their advisor Dr. Erika Bagley (Psychology) attended the Society for Research in Child Development meeting from March 19-21, 2015 in Philadelphia, PA and presented their study: “Self-Efficacy Mediates Relations between Maternal Control and Self-Esteem”.
  • Arissa Lahr (’17) attended the Pennsylvania Political Science Association’s 76th Annual Conference from March 20-21, 2015 in Philadelphia, PA, and presented her study of “Missed Opportunities for Human Development: An Analysis of Ghana’s Experience with Structural Adjustment Programs”
  • Jessica Wilson (’16), Lisa Housel (’15), Brian Auvil (’16), and Ryan Ferrie (’15) with Dr. Sherri Young (Chemistry) and Dr. Bruce Anderson (Chemistry) presented at the American Chemical Society National Meeting in Denver, CO from March 21-24, 2015
  • Kelly Osborne (’15) attended the National Council for Undergraduate Research meeting in Spokane, WA from April 16-18, 2015 and presented her paper “The Fall of Man and the Rise of the Dual Narrative: Verbal Visual Relations in Blake’s The Book of Urizen

  • Jaime Klotz (’15) attended One Child, Many Hands: A Multidisciplinary Conference on Child Welfare at the University of Pennsylvania on June 10-12, 2015 and presented her work: Scaling Up a Welfare Collaboration to Address Elementary School Truancy in an Urban School District.
  • Carly Baron (’15), Emily Rybnick (’17), Catherine Zimel (’17) presented their work at the Society for Music Perception and Cognition conference from August 1-5, 2015 in Nashville, TN.

2014

  • Jennifer Freed (’15), Carly Lyon (’16), Teresa Kennedy (’15) and Kelly Toner (’15)  presented posters at the  2014 joint conference of the International Writing Center Association and National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing with Drs. David Rosenwasser and Jill Stephen in Orlando, FL on October 30-November 1, 2014.

  • Caleb Clever (’16), David Reinert  (’16) and Benjamin Kimmelman (’16) with Dr. Brett Fadem presented their work at the Fourth Joint Meeting of the Nuclear Physics Divisions of the American Physical Society and The Physical Society of Japan in Waikoloa, Hawaii from October 7-11, 2014.

  • Denueve Shepherd ’13 presented her work on Cancer Awareness in Samoa and the Samoan Cancer Experience at the Human Development Conference at the University of Notre Dame from February 8-9, 2013. 
  • Nicole Fiorentino ’13 presented a poster entitled Stochastic Models of an Antibiotic-Resistant Noscomial Infection and Melanie Panosian ’13 presented a posted entitled Tournaments and Tournament Solutions at the Joint Mathematics Meeting in San Diego, CA from January 9-12, 2013.

2012

    • Gillian Irwin ’13 and Dr. Diane Follet presented their poster Schumann in Love at the College Music Society National Conference, November 15-18, 2012 in San Diego, CA.
    • Christopher Zumberge ’14 and Benjamin Schweid ’13 presented posters at the 2012 Fall meeting of the APS division of Nuclear Physics from October 24-27th in Newport Beach, California.
    • Mark Yulis ‘13, Jenna Kotak ‘13, Sabrina Kamran ’13, Catherine Ezzio ’13, Emily Bayer ’14, Jeremy Kaplan ’15 and Hayley Reed ‘15 presented posters at the 15th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium in Baltimore, MD on October 19-20, 2012. Emily Bayer won first prize in the poster competition.
    • Rebecca Golden ‘14 won an Outstanding Poster Honorable Mention for the presentation of her poster entitled Down-regulation of Nbs1 reduces level of Sp1 at the Drexel Discovery 2012 event at the Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA.
    • Scott Goldstein '13, Sam Tolkin '14 and Macauley Breault '15 were Tournament Finalists in the VEX Robotics competition held at the College of Southern Maryland. They received a trophy for their efforts.
