Hone your artistic voice and explore the foundations of creative expression.

Studio art students refine their artistic skills while delving deeply into the study of art and its place in our world. Close collaborations with the Art History program inspire you to consider your work through a critical lens and in a global context.

Muhlenberg’s location is ideal for art students, as it provides easy access to first-class museums and galleries within the Lehigh Valley and in nearby New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Art faculty frequently sponsor trips to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of Art, Guggenheim Museum and the Museum of Modern Art. You will also learn directly from renowned artists, art historians, visiting scholars and critics, who regularly visit classrooms to discuss artistry and critique students’ work.

We intentionally maintain small class sizes so you’ll receive one-on-one attention from expert faculty at every stage of your studies. Our dedicated faculty and staff will nurture your passions as you explore new boundaries and pursue a concentration that lights your creative spark. Studio art students graduate equipped to develop independent creative work, conduct effective research and practice broadly applicable skills including written and visual analysis and communication.
