The President's Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement and Promise for Postgraduate Study

This award is open to sophomores and juniors who present outstanding applications drafted in consultation with an award advisor designated by the College and successfully complete an interview. The awards are intended to provide excellent students with an opportunity to prepare for competition for national and international awards including the Marshall, Fulbright, and National Science Foundation. One to three awards are granted each year. Students may be from any major and must have a minimum 3.4 grade point average overall and in their major unless extraordinary circumstances are convincingly argued to the contrary.

Beginning mid-January

 

Review the list of national award applications eligible for this competition and contact the Associate Dean of Academic Life for support in choosing an award.

Ongoing

Work with your award advisor to develop your application materials. Collect letters of reference from faculty. Practice your interview skills.

March 8

One copy of application materials due, via email, no later than 4:00 p.m. to Ashley Harrow, administrative assistant to the Associate Dean of Academic Life. Ms. Harrow will contact you via email to schedule your interview.

March 18-22

Interview workshop (date to be determined)

March 25-28 and April 2-5

Individual Interview with panel of awards advisors and other campus staff.  Constructive feedback on materials and interview provided, with aim of improving the final national application (due sometime during the fall).
